Cerebellar stroke [top]

  • Sudden onset of vertigo, headache acute headache, vomiting and ataxia
  • May be complicated by loss of consciousness, brainstem signs or hydrocephalus

Wernicke's encephalopathy [top]

  • Triad of ophthalmoplegia - most often lateral rectus, ataxia and confusion vertigo
  • Caused by thiamine deficiency, usually in alcoholics
