Causes of Right upper quadrant pain


Cholecystitis [top]

  • Colicky Abdominal pain, Right upper quadrant pain, epigastric pain
  • Vomiting after eating
  • Murphy's sign positive
  • Worse with fatty food

Biliary colic [top]

  • Right upper quadrant pain or Chest pain
  • Worse after meal
  • Intermittent 'colicky' pain
  • Precipitated by fatty food
  • Radiation to right scapula

Dubin-Johnson syndrome [top]

  • Intermittent obstructive jaundice
  • Right upper quadrant pain
  • Normal: ALP, LFT
  • Increased: Urine bilirubin
